Residente en Brooklyn, Nueva York, Nora K. Jemisin es autora de ficción especulativa, historias cortas y novela. Fue la primera persona en ganar tres Premios Hugo consecutivos en la categoría de novela con su trilogía La Tierra Fragmentada.

Activista, feminista y bloguera anti-racista, Jemisin ha sido, además de escritora, psicóloga y educadora especializada en orientación profesional y desarrollo estudiantil.

Actualmente participa como miembro del grupo de escritura Altered Fluid y escribe con asiduidad (bajo seudónimo) en la columna de reseñas literarias del New York Times.
